Representatives of the ‘crisis over repairs’ hit housing association in Fenland have been called before a special scrutiny meet in the New Year.

With councillors bombarded with complaints, Fenland Council will hold a special meeting of its overview and scrutiny committee on January 8.
Anna Goodall, head of governance and legal services, told councillors that the meeting followed on from recent issues experienced by Clarion residents in relation to gas and heating supplies.
Clarion, formerly Circle and formerly Roddons, took over Fenland’s 4,000 housing stock in 2007.
Now Councillor Fred Yeulett, chairman of the overview and scrutiny committee, has asked a representative from Clarion and their heating repairs contractor Morgan Sindall to appear before the committee in January.
He wants them to “address the issues and satisfy members that a robust plan is in place to successfully resolve any ongoing problems”.
Ms Goodall said that the chairman is keen to give all members the opportunity to forward issues, which have been brought to their attention from Clarion residents, in relation to heating or gas supply problems.
Cllr Yeulett has said he wants to ensure his committee is “able to articulate the breadth and details of the issues experienced by local people”.
Councillors are being urged to send complaints to Ms Goodall who will collate them for the meeting “to help inform discussions”.
The meeting – open to the public – will be on Monday January 8 in Beech Room at South Fens Business Park, Chatteris.
Independent councillor Virginia Bucknor said she had been raising issues regarding the lack of hot water and heating almost on a daily basis with Clarion.
She said she had such a long list of issues she has asked if should can attend the meeting “and raise any questions if they have not been covered by committee members in the first instance”.
Cllr Bucknor said: “All the residents’ issues I had raised up to last week were resolved and so I wrote at the week-end thanking everyone for their efforts.
“Unfortunately that was short-lived. I received a further request for help yesterday by two residents and another this morning – most of the stories are quite heart-breaking – seriously ill and/or very elderly people without heating and hot water for around two months in the majority of cases.”
